Green Rameswaram - Swacchhta Hi Seva

The Prime Minister have named the nation-wide sanitation campaign from 15th September to 2nd October 2017 as “Swachhta Hi Seva”. This was coordinated by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, the convening Ministry for the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The objective of the campaign was to mobilise people and reinforce the “Jan Andolan” for sanitation to contribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a Clean India. The participation ranged from the President of India to the common citizen and would involve Union Ministers, Governors, Chief Ministers, legislators, celebrities and top officials.

Habitat
Tree to 12 m tall, deciduous; branchlets cylindric, sometimes slightly angled, glabrous; spines axillary, solitary or paired, straight, stout and sharp. Leaves alternate-3-foliolate, sometimes 5-foliolate, dimorphic; petioles terete to 6 cm long, glabrous or puberulous when young; leaflets subsessile, ovateelliptic or elliptic-lanceolate, oblique at base,shallowly crenate-serrate at margin, tapering at apex,membranous, pellucid-punctate, pale green. Flowers bisexual, greenish white or yellow, fragrant. Stamens

Revival and Renovation of Panacha Teertham

This is originally Panasa Teertham and Panasa is one of the Vanara army head of Sugreeva. He created this Teertham and one who takes bath in this Teertham attains immortality.  This Teertham creates a wakeful nature in oneself who bathes in the Teertham. Over the years the name has got converted to Panacha Teertham colloquially. Another Oral version of the story is this Teertham is named after Panai or Palm Tree available in this area.Water of this Teertham is equivalent to the sweetness of Palm Jaggery hence it is known as Panacha Teertham

High Court Judges visit to Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi


High court Judges KK Sasidharan, GR Swaminathan and J Nishabanu visited Pamban, Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi on 17 September, 2017 in order to understand the field realities in response to the Public interest litigations filed against the government.  The team visited the Pamban Bridge to provide the parking space for the vehicles before and after Pamban bridge.  Then they visited Ramanathasamy temple and Agni Teertham before coming back to Hotel Tamilnadu.
Our Secretary Shri.G.Vasudeo met the High court judges in the Hotel room and gave our publications set along with synopsis of ‘Green Resilient Rameswaram’. He requested them to see the power point presentation of Green Rameswaram. Honourable Judges agreed and came to the conference room in Hotel Tamilnadu.
