Read Coverting Letter - Rama’s squirrel calling …..
July 2023, Vol.8;  No.05

Dear Friends,

Devi Ahilyabai Holkar helped in not only restoring the ancient temples all over India but also constructed many water bodies which are still intact even after 250 years and having water in all the seasons. Moreover, the construction is superb – aesthetic in look and also ensures neat and clean water. Please see the youtube https://youtu.be/SEThGEYm0Y8

We as a part of the Green Rameswaram project are concentrating on Revival and Renovation of Traditional water bodies in Rameswaram. As on today, we have revived and renovated more than 50 water bodies which are outside the temple. However, as per the scriptures, there are 108 Teerthams related to Ramanathaswami temple which are located in Ramanathapuram district. In the coming years, we will move beyond the Rameswaram Island and will start renovating the balance Traditional water bodies.

This month’s newsletter has the following highlights:
  • In this month, Dr.Sanjay Banerji writes on “SDG Progress Report 2023”
  • Shri.Rangarajan, translates a few shlokas from the rare book on Ramanathaswami Temple
  • Usual work carried out by Hand in Hand Inclusive Development Services in Solid waste management
  • Dr.A.Abirami, Programme Officer of the C.P.R. Environmental Educational Center, writes on the herbal plant –  Kumattikkai (Atmaraksha)

This classical work on Sri Ramanatha Swami of Rameswaram was composed by “Palapattadai Chokkanatha Pillai”. This work was discovered by Dr.U.Ve.Saminatha Iyer after comparing multiple versions. He also wrote a commentary on this rare text.

With the blessings of Lord Ramanatha Swami, Mother Parvathavardhini & Lord Rama, here is an attempt to provide a reasonable translation of this work, in English. Any error can be ascribed to me.
