We at Rameswaram are promoting kitchen / terrace garden as a part of Livelihood project which helps the stakeholders in nutritional security and in turn helps in improving their health.

A Rare book - Dhevaiula
on Ramanathaswami
This classical work on Sri Ramanatha Swami of Rameswaram was composed by “Palapattadai Chokkanatha Pillai”. This work was discovered by Sri U.Ve. Saminatha Iyer after comparing multiple versions. He also wrote a commentary on this rare text.
Solid Waste Management
Door to Door Waste Collection and Segregation Programmes
The project team on daily basis undertakes door-to-door waste collection and source segregation. The street cleaning is also a part of the daily activities which has been implemented uninterruptedly during the month of Sep 2024 in the project location.

Distribution and Habitat:
Mentha arvensis Linn belongs to the family Lamiaceae. It is found in Eurasia, widely growing in subtropical regions. It is native to the regions of Europe, western and central Asia. It is an erect herbaceous perennial plant that grows up to 20-80 cm on square, hairy stems. It is rhizomatous and has opposite leaves with very short stalks. Leaves elliptic to oblong-ovate, short petioled, toothed margins, rounded or blunt tipped. Flowers whorled; around upper leaf axils; 4-7 mm long; 2 lipped; irregular; white to pink to violet colour. Fruits brown nut lets.

Our work of involving community in doing Teertha poojas is going on smoothly. Locals are trying to take the ownership of the programme with the help of SHG Cordinators. In this month, we could perform Teertha poojas at 28 Traditional water bodies with 275 volunteers participating in the activity.
