Dear Friends,
Namaskaram.

In this spirit, the Green Rameswaram Project team, in its own humble yet meaningful way—much like the squirrel’s contribution in the Ramayana—organized several activities to support these objectives. These included planting flowering trees, conducting various competitions in schools and villages, and creating widespread awareness about building a “Green, Resilient Rameswaram.”
This month’s newsletter has the following highlights:
- Archaeology and Heritage: Shri Rangarajan continues to translate select shlokas from the rare text on the Ramanathaswami Temple. Activities also included the Pasumai Mahalir SHG meeting, the online Palsuvai Nigaltchi, and Pada Pooja at the Anandalaya.
- Green Health: Dr. A. Abirami, Programme Officer, C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre, Chennai, writes on the herbal plant—Peanut (Verkkadalai).
- Livelihood: Coverage includes the various training programmes conducted during the period.
- Landscaping and Beautification: Tree plantation programmes were undertaken at multiple locations.
- Revival and Renovation of Teerthas: Teertha cleaning activities and poojas were performed at several sites, including the Maha Teertha Pooja at Amutha and Deva Teertham.
- Social Capital: Activities included Sadhana Diwas celebrations, Anandalaya programmes, village and school-level competitions, and the newsletter prepared by the students and for the students of Rameswaram.
With best wishes,
