Review of the last century – a mixed score card

Dear Friends,

This month we shall try to review the results achieved in our efforts during the latter half of the 20th century. As we stated in the title, it is a mixed score-card. We cannot deny the facts that starting from scratch, the world started paying attention to environmental issues, and held several global conferences every year. They came out with ambitious declarations, and at times managed to even agree upon some tough measures like reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by the developed nations, as a part of the Kyoto Protocol and banning of the use of CFCs to prevent further damages to the ozone layer.

On 06 June 2019, RamarTeertham cleaning and Teerthapoojawas organised. Around 6 Green Rameswaram volunteers and 5 pilgrims attended the programme. Ganapathi mantra was chanted and then Teerthapooja commenced. All of them repeated the mantras and at the end of the Pooja,deeparadhana was shown and gathering offered flowers and turmeric to the Teertham. Prasadam was offered to the volunteers.

ASPIRATION – Projects for Rameswaram Supported by NSE Foundation

Mission Green Rameswaram is one of the flagship initiatives of Vivekananda Kendra – Nardep. The Mission aims at making the Rameswaram Island green and resilient. Green Rameswaram Trust has been promoted to steer and catalyse the development processes.
