Dear Friends,

Greetings from Amrita. I plan to start a new series of blogs, trying to share with you some of the basics of management. I do hope that this would be useful for all, especially those who are trying their hands for the first time to manage the Self-Help Groups (SHGs). I shall try to keep them as simple as possible.

Everyday door-to-door waste collection and source segregation along with street cleaning were carried out uninterruptedly.

Source Segregation Demo Programme

Four Source Segregation Demonstration programme were organized on 1st, 2nd and 5th of July at New Street (Ward No:15), Kattupillaiyar Kovil and two at Anna Nagar (Ward No: 10).

In this Progaramme, our staff and green friends gave awareness to households in each ward on the types of waste, segregation of waste and the importance and benefits of recycling. A live demonstration on Source Segregation was organized for the public.

Chrysopogon zizanioides belonging to the family Poaceae is a perennial grass with thick fibrous adventitious roots which are aromatic and highly valued and widely distributed in India, Burma, Sri Lanka, and spread from Southwest Asia to tropical Africa.

The plant is a large tufted bunchgrass and can reach up to 1.5 metres (5 feet) in height. The roots clustered; 2 mm diameter; varying colour from cream to light yellow and sometimes even brown colour; and slightly bitter, pungent, and aromatic, grows densely in any soil type.

Present status 124 groups with 1592 members.

Green Transport

E-Autos (7 nos.) reached out to 8859 pilgrims. Out of which, we have provided free services to Senior citizens – 180 nos., children – 112 and differently-abled – 40 nos.

Renovation of Naraneeya Teertham completed in the month of July by painting traditional colours and fixing Nagaraja at different points of the water body. A few pictures are giving below.

Parasuram Teertham Cleaning was organized by Rameswaram Municipality in Parasuram Teertham. 5 workers participated in the cleaning work.
