This month, I am sharing with you, a note, I wrote in January this year.

A news clip about Kazakhstan becoming second biggest crypto currency (bitcoins) producer led me to enquire about it. I did some web search at: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1200477/bitcoin-mining-by-country/

Some interesting facts led to this note.

USA, China and now Kazakhstan are the largest ‘producers’ of bitcoins, while African countries indulge the most in bitcoins trade. So, the mighty are once again out, to pump out the last drop of blood that may be available from the gullible.

Door to Door Collection and Garbage Segregation

Everyday door-to-door waste collection and source segregation along with street cleaning were carried out uninterruptedly.

Source Segregation Demo Programme

Two Source Segregation Demonstration Programmes were organized on 25th, 28th of June 2022 at Tsunami Colony (Ward – 19), Kattu Pillaiyar Kovil Street (Ward – 2).
In this Progaramme, our staff and green friends gave awareness to households in each ward on the types of waste, segregation of waste and the importance and benefits of recycling. A live demonstration on Source Segregation was organized for the public.

Distribution and Habitat

Calotropis procera (Aiton). W. T. Aiton belongs to the family Apocynaceae and is a soft wooded, evergreen perennial shrub or small tree that grows to a height of 2.5 – 6 m, with milky latex throughout. It is an erect shrub, native to India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka and China. The leaves are large, broad, pale green, succulent, opposite, and covered with cuticular wax. The flowers are small, cream or greenish-white at base and purple violet at the extremity of the lobes. Each flower consists of five pointed petals and a small, elegant “crown” rising from the centre, which holds the stamens. Fruit is grey-green, inflated, 8-12 cm long, containing numerous seeds.

Green Rameswaram requested ICICI Foundation to conduct the Fish value added products training on 27th June 2022. 25 SHG members attended the program at Thangachimadam.

Green Transport

E-Autos (7 nos.) reached out to 9503 pilgrims. Out of which, we have provided free services to Senior citizens – 240 nos., children – 143 and differently-abled – 55 nos.
