As part of the programme, the District Decarbonisation Plans for The Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Virudhunagar, and Ramanathapuram districts were formally unveiled by the Hon’ble Minister for Finance and Environment, Climate Change, Government of Tamil Nadu, Thiru Thangam Thennarasu. During the occasion, a Letter of Intent (LoI) for serving as the Project Management Unit (PMU) was exchanged with the Green Rameswaram Trust.
This initiative is expected to significantly contribute towards realizing our vision of a Green and Resilient Rameswaram.
This month’s newsletter has the following highlights:
- Archaeology and Heritage Shri.Rangarajan continues to translate a couple of shlokas from the rare book on Ramanathaswami Temple, Pasumai Mahalir SHG meeting and online Palsuvai Nigaltchi
- Under Green Health, Dr. A. Abirami, Programme Officer of the C.P.R. Environmental Educational Center, Chennai writes on the herbal plant – Cashew (Mundiri).
- In Livelihood we have covered the training programmes.
- In Landscaping and beautification, covered Tree plantation programme
- Under Revival and Renovation of Teerthas, we covered Teertha cleaning and Poojas at several places including Maha Teertha pooja at Gnanavapi Teertham.
- In Social capital, Anandalayas, Schools and College competitions and finally newsletter by the students and for the students of Rameswaram.

A Rare book – Dhevaiula on Ramanathaswami

This classical work on Sri Ramanatha Swami of Rameswaram was composed by “Palapattadai Chokkanatha Pillai”. This work was discovered by Sri U.Ve.Saminatha Iyer after comparing multiple versions.


Herbal Garden (Muligai Vanam)

Distribution and Habitat
Cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) is a nutritious dense crop that comes under the family Anacardiaceae. Cashew is cultivated as a cash crop. It was originated in Brazil but now cultivated in all tropical regions.

In the month of October 02 Training programmes conducted and 10 Peoples attended.


Landscaping and Beautification

Tree Plantation programmes
On October 20, a tree plantation program was organised at Sri Parvathavarthini Amman School, Rameswaram. During the event, 20 flower plants and 25 seed balls of trees and vegetable varieties were distributed to promote environmental awareness among students.


Revival and Renovation of Traditional Water Bodies

Teertha Cleaning
8 Teerthas were cleaned by Thiru.Murugan in October 2025. (i) Virega (ii) Brahma (iii) Sahadeva (iv) Simha (v) Nakula (vi) Gnanavapi (vii) Arjuna and (viii) Bhima


Social Capital

Anandalaya
We launched the Anandalaya initiative in August with the aim of enhancing the academic and personal growth of rural and underprivileged children.
